Plants nourish and are credited with positive effects on physical and mental health. Kind of like the DFL — being part of it is good for your health and our environment.
What’s the connection?
DFL Senate District 43, the local organizing unit for Golden Valley, Robbinsdale, New Hope, Crystal and part of Plymouth, is having a plant & flower fundraiser. Profits build our war chest to get Democrats elected in our district and across Minnesota. Your plant flower purchases will help achieve that goal.
How does it work?
Choose the plants you want from the Gerten’s order form: www.gertensfundraising.com, enter store ID 697
Order deadline: Thursday, April 2 at 10 PM
Payment due at the time of your order
Pick up plants May 7 at a residence in Golden Valley — afternoon through evening
Don’t see the plants you want? Order a Gertens Plant Card you can use in person
We hope you’ll support our common goal — electing Democrats— by ordering your plants & flowers from our sale. Spread the word — it’s open to everyone! They make great Mother’s Day and teacher gifts.
We’re providing an extra level of service to help you get your plant order — delivery of your order by one of our volunteers for a separate goodwill donation to Senate District 43 via ActBlue. Please email us if you’d like delivery.
ONLY those elected as Delegates and Alternates at the February 3rd Caucuses qualify for participating in this convention.
Learn more about the convention on the convention page: https://www.sd43dfl.org/convention
We will be in the upstairs ballroom overlooking Brookview Golf Course and will have live music.
We're volunteering at The Food Group on Thursday, Feb. 12, 4-6 pm. Sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080F45ADA722A0FE3-57182686-volunteer#/
Please sign up - don't just show up. We're limited in how many people we can have, so we need to keep track of numbers.
About volunteering at The Food Group
As a volunteer, you will help our neighbors have access to nutritious and culturally relevant food. Food from wholesalers and local farms is repacked in our warehouse for our 33 Fare For All affordable grocery sites and/or made available for distribution to around 200 food shelves.
Warehouse Volunteers assist with various projects; bulk repacking of items such as oatmeal, rice, beans, or pasta, assembling boxes for food distribution, sorting donated goods, cleaning and sanitizing of the workspace.
This event is a two-hour time commitment with no prior food packing experience required to sign up. Minimum age is 12, and all minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Our staff will cover all important information before the project starts. Tasks may involve repetitive motions, sitting or standing. Volunteering with The Food Group is meant to be a safe and meaningful experience so please let us know if you require special accommodations.
Our warehouse is located at 8501 54th Ave N, New Hope, MN 55428. Parking lot available with wheelchair access. Enter the building along the west sidewalk (right side of the building) and through the orange door.
Please wear comfortable work clothes and note that closed-toed shoes and pants are required. We have extra closed-toed shoes if needed. For safety in the warehouse, please wear tops that cover the torso to the waistline.
You are welcome to bring snacks (enjoyed in the volunteer orientation room). Feel free to bring your reusable water bottle that can be refilled at our drinking fountain. We recently added lockers to safely store personal items.
We start the volunteer orientation promptly at the scheduled shift times; thank you for helping us get started on time. Let's build a stronger food system, one event at a time!
